tween clothes ( not sport wear)

Went shopping today with nearly 12 year old son . It seems there is very little around for tween boys if you don't want the standard sports wear joggers and hoodies. Primark had a tiny section, h and m nothing for that age.

Will have to look on line, any suggestions. He is looking for clothes that are cool but not the same as every one else is wearing.

M&S go up to age 16
H&M go up to size age 14+

I'm assuming shirts, jeans, cargos sort of outfit?

Mine is a year younger but I tend to get second-hand stuff from eBay - I mainly look for Fat Face, Billabong and other surfy brands, also sometimes Mango, H&M and Zara.

@WheelsUp yes that sort of thing.

He has found some on Shien but it seems very cheap. Whats the quality like?

Shein is made in Chinese sweat shops and very hit and miss in quality.

My older ds has been shopping for clothes today. He had to go to real shops because he needs jeans so has to try them on and came home raging about lack of the correct size etc

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/04/2023 18:31

Next go up to 16-17 online. M&S to 16 I think.
Gap have a teen range (also largely online in the uk now).

Comedycook · 01/04/2023 18:32

Maybe boohoo man? I think they do extra small sizes now

cheesenpickle · 01/04/2023 19:52

i normally get clothes from Next for him on line ( and he has picked some things himself)but he said he wanted to go shopping and choose some himself. its not the same looking at a screen, ordering clothes and then half the time having to send it back. He was really disappointed, we went looking and there was absolutely nothing at all in the shops for his age at all.

My nearest H&M go up to age 14 in-store for boys.
Zara, River Island, Next, primark etc?

PhotoDad · 01/04/2023 20:08

DS15 has recently refreshed his wardrobe from Primark (chinos etc) but our local branch is huuuuuge. Later this summer he'll have to find stuff for sixth-form, too!

PoorMrsNorris · 01/04/2023 20:10

It's difficult isn't it. I used to get lots from H&M but DS is getting broad and tall.
Lately I'm buying Primark or Next jeans and North Face t shirts and hoodies from Vinted.
I got a bunch of t shirts in x small in Men's Primark the other day too.
There's so much more choice for girls. We don't live near the coast so no nice surf type shops for nice hoodies or anything unfortunately. I do like him to wear a bit of colour if he likes it.

cheesenpickle · 01/04/2023 20:16

we live in York and the stores i don't think are large enough to have the range of sizes.

cheesenpickle · 01/04/2023 20:26

@grumpy we have done designer outlet before when looking for xmas present clothes and there was very little for 11/12. might have to try Leeds.

Outdoors shops tend to be a bit more interesting and even have colour rather than just grey, black and sludge.

converseandjeans · 01/04/2023 20:50

Vans
Billabong
Santa Cruz
H&M
Primark
Peacocks

I buy mostly boys European and US preppy brands. I have 4 boys and hate most of the Nike or Under Armour sub-sportswear styles on offer in the UK. It’s all black and Khaki. It’s more expensive but I like Petit Bateau up to Age 12 (realistically age 10 because the sizes come up small). North Face is quite good.

MadeInChorley · 01/04/2023 20:56

Zara and Massimo Dutti kids styles are good
