What do I tell my kids? Moving in with parents for a few weeks

I have 2 kids, 3 and 6.
I am about to go and stay with my parents for a few weeks and take them with me.

Their dad is lazy, selfish, unsupportive. In the last 6 years has gained over 10 stone. Now weighing nearly 30 stone. Can't stay awake. Won't get out of bed. No help at all with kids.

I am currently waiting for tests on a suspicious lump. I am stressed, emotional and not able to cope here at home with him.

What do I tell my kids? Every part of me wants to tell them what a piece of shit he is. But of course, I can't.

Any advice is welcome.

They’re young, just tell them it’s a holiday. What’s your plan longer term? I’m sorry things are so difficult for you 💐

I agree with Anne; it’s a little holiday with their grandparents and mummy. Give yourself some time to plan long term whilst you have the emotional & physical support of your parents. I hope you’re ok.

Make it exciting, 'Nanny and Grandad have invited us to stay at their house for a while so we're having sleepovers there'.

If their Dad doesn't change tgen no doubt they will figure him out for themselves one day, but for now your goal is to keep their lives fun and comforting and happy, as they really are still babies. Don't burden them.

I hope you have a nice time with your parents and get the space you need to think and to be looked after a little Flowers

Thank you all for the kind replies.

They absolutely love it at their grandparents house thankfully. Dreading the questions, but your right, just a holiday is a good enough reason.
