Had a blood test about 3weeks ago I've had abdominal pain on and off. Not pregnant , Palpated said all seemed fine said they would let.me know if blood tests were abnormal, thought nothing of it had intermittent pain but not too bad. I received a letter today posted yesterday asking me to go for a transvaginal scan on Tuesday what could this be for the NHS aren't known to be speedy ☹️?

Handhold thank you .

Do you know what the blood test was for Fifi? Could they be trying to rule out an ectopic pregnancy?

Sometimes with the NHS things do move reasonably quickly once you're in the system, so try not to worry - hopefully if there's any problem it'll mean you'll be able to get it treated quickly too.

I'm a sonographer, due to a change in childcare ive cancelled some annual leave next week so the bookings centre booked me a list and sent out a load of appointments so that I wouldn't be sat there doing nothing, could be a simple reason like that. (I don't do transvaginal scans).

Scans round here are really fast, they commission a few private services basing them in GP surgeries to clear the decks. I've had routine scans booked within a week before now, so try not to worry.

If you have lower abdominal pain it's pretty standard to to TVU.
It will check the lining of your uterus, your ovaries and fallopian tubes.
They said if your bloods showed anything they would contact you,ime they do let you know quickly.
This might be the next step to see if anything shows up.

Scans here are quick too, I've had a mri in under 2 weeks and a ct in a week recently. Your gp probably referred at the same time as bloods.

Bloods here are back in 48 hours and I can see mine in the nhs app. You would have been contacted if you needed them redoing or if they picked up anything. It sounds like it's routine as a next step

I was referred for a scan following some spotting between periods when I started HRT. They wanted to rule out cancer so the appointment came through pretty quickly. All was fine and the scan was straight forward. All the best X

Ah okay I had an abnormal smear and treatment about 6 months ago so probably being cautious.
