Paint and makeup - how similar?

How similar are the ingredients in paint and foundation makeup? Are they at all similar? Is foundation just paint applied with a small brush?

Obviously not wall paint but a version of it? Just thinking if the pigments or any part of it are similar?

Well, some of the pigments but not all may be similar, but the composition of the rest of it isn't. Why are you asking? Have you found a really nice shade in the Dulux catalogue that you want to put on your face?
