Desperate - Why am I so nauseous?

niamhornimps · 31/03/2023 20:18

Okay, so fine all day! Come evening I am nauseous beyond belief. It's awful.

It even wakes me up during the night. Coming morning and I'm fine?

Slight stomach pain in the lower half of my stomach sometimes during the day but 0 else.

What could this be? I had horrendous HG with my pregnancies but at least I was vomiting and got relief from that...

Just had it some badly that I had to throw up for the first time

I'm not pregnant, got a coil

It's been going on a good 2/3 weeks and I'm miserable

Not sure if GP could help?

Have you actually done a pregnancy test? Coils aren't quite 100%...

niamhornimps · 31/03/2023 20:21

No I haven't. But I had a period 2 weeks ago... and it's been going on since a bit before that period

Why would you think a GP couldn't help but Mumsnet could?

@WunWun sorry, to clarify I meant it's too much of a minor ailment for GP I suppose

Pregnant

Madeintowerhamlets · 31/03/2023 20:25

I don’t think it’s minor at all OP. I really think you need to make an appointment with the GP.

I get nausea lots. A couple of years ago I had constant nausea and stomachaches. It turned out I had Hepatitis and the nausea and pain was from my enlarged liver. I also had dark urine and was knackerrr and it was confirmed. Y a blood test. Eventually it went away. I recently had a hall bladder issue and that's caused nausea but also pain in my right side and diarrhoea.

I still get morning nausea a lot. I think it's hormonal.

If it's interfering with normal life I wold give your Gp a call.

DandledASandle · 31/03/2023 20:26

pregnancy test then GP.

Thank you for this. Funnily enough I am absolutely exhausted recently.

I have had my gallbladder out years ago and it doesn't feel at all like that type of thing

Your post has given me something I could potentially rule out if more basic stuff turns out not to be the answer

@bangwhistle I know I'm being overly nosey but can I ask if you drink a lot? I don't like alcohol so don't drink, I thought that made me exempt from liver problems coming to bite unless it's fatty liver etc?

Vestibular neuritis gives me nausea and sea sickness

Knockmealdowns · 31/03/2023 21:31

Go to your GP and get your blood’s checked

Zipettydooda · 31/03/2023 21:40

I had similar to you OP. It was about 5 weeks ago. Sudden onset nausea one evening and it lasted on and off for a month, mainly in evenings with some intermittent left sided and pain and at times in my lower left back.
2 days I vomited. Was going to go to the GP as I felt fatigued as well but then it just cleared up. Maybe some weird bug,I thought but nobody else in household got it.

If your symptoms persist or get worse go to your GP.

FeetOnly · 31/03/2023 21:47

Ovarian cysts can give you pregnancy symptoms like nausea etc

Readyforspringtime · 31/03/2023 21:49

I don't know the cause but I have it too and I have emetophobia so it's awful. Asides from the exhaustion and nausea at night, my Fitbit picked up my HR going to 180 in my sleep, but it might not be linked. I was shaking so much the other night that it woke me up and I felt so nauseous. Maybe it is some weird bug that will go away?

Could it be a stress thing?

I've tried sleeping more and earlier to avoid it but that hasn't helped. Please update if you get answers or find anything that helps.

SeaToSki · 31/03/2023 21:50

If you have had your gall bladder out, you might have a bile leak, they can come on years later but are fairly rare. I would imagine the fact that it clears up over night is because you arent eating then which settles it down

BuffyTheCat · 31/03/2023 21:53

Ulcer? Sounds like my dad’s symptoms when he had an ulcer.

cocksstrideintheevening · 01/04/2023 00:12

Acid indegestion

TomatoSandwiches · 01/04/2023 00:17

Diabetes? Very similar symptoms, ask your gp for a Hba1c test.

HighInfidelity · 01/04/2023 01:44

I’ve had nausea first thing in the morning since I was a teenager. It seems to be linked to POTS for me. If it’s new for you then probably worth doing a pregnancy test if you’ve had sex with men recently and checking in with your GP either way if it’s new.

Periornot · 01/04/2023 02:34

There are various reasons it could be. Speak to your GP. My nausea is due to long covid.

Swirlingcurlish · 01/04/2023 02:58

Op this could be a 10-day virus working it’s way through your system.

But in case it continues, I am just coming on to say that so had these symptoms for about five to eight years or more. It started very mildly and got worse and worse.

Starting feeling nauseous an hour or so after dinner. Woke up horribly nauseous at 3 am sometimes with mild vomiting and this progressed to being horribly nauseous and more serious vomiting when I woke up every morning too. It got to the point where having a bucket by the bed was completely normal.

I went to the gp who explored: liver function, diabetes, H. Pylori, gastric reflux, ulcers, you name it, I was tested for it. Also had ultrasound and endoscopy /colonoscopy too. Started to develop horrific IBS symptoms also.

At the same time was on the pill for horrific period pain and heavy periods and was found to have fibroids and a large benign ovarian cyst.

Constantly asked my gp and my gynaecologist “can gynae issues give you this nausea and these gastric issues?” and every time was told “no”.

Funnily enough the day (and I mean the very same day) I had full hysterectomy in my early fifties and my ovaries removed, the nausea completely stopped and I felt completely fine again!

Hope you find the cause and feel much better soon!

Baileyshotchocolate · 01/04/2023 05:22

Could be a magnesium deficiency, I would try a supplement
