HELP there's a bird in my house

I came downstairs this morning to a solitary feather on my kitchen floor. I suspected my cat had brought something in but couldn't find any evidence of it.

I've been working from home all day and just saw something hobbling underneath by unit/cupboard in living room. It is a bloody bird, a black bird maybe? I have a slight fear of birds and no one to help, plus I have to pick my daughter up from nursery within the next hour. WTF do I do?!

Throw a towel over it and then into a laundry basket and outside

Don't panic! It is more scared than you!

Open a window while you go to nursery, it may well take itself out.

Take a deep breath, get an old hand towel, put it over the bird, from the back, hold it firmly but not too tight, then take it outside. Then go back in the house and have a good shudder/wretch fest. Throw the towel away, wash your hands, go and pick up your little one.

Keep the cat out of that room- that wouldn't be a nice thing for your daughter to see.

Try and leave a door or window in the room open, and stay out yourself. It will leave when it's quiet. If it's still there in the morning, use an umbrella to sweep it out from under the cupboard. If it flies, great- it will head for the window- especially if you have a blind over the closed windows so the bird knows which way to go!

Honestly the thought of being anywhere near it is making my skin tingle!!

If you need to, you can hold up a sheet or duvet cover and usher it out the door/window.
Thing is, it needs to come out from under the cupboard first.
