Fixed braces breaking

DS had a top brace fitted in November last year. Bottom brace was added about 2 weeks ago with elastic bands added too.

He's had the top one repaired due to bits falling off 3 times.

I've just found out that the bottom one has broken today.

He's not stupid and is careful with the food he's eating. Last time part of the bracket fell off when he was eating a pancake and he swallowed it. I give him his packed lunch each day so I know what he's eating so he's not eating haribo or biting into apples.

Is it normal for braces to snap all the time?

I don't remember them snapping, but the wires often came out of brackets and cut into the side of DD's mouth, so we had a few emergency visits as wires were cutting into her mouth.

My DC had this multiple times, constant breakages and extra trips to the orthodontist when dentist would invariably place blame on DC eating "forbidden" food even when it was only a banana when the breakage occurred. Eventually changed dentist part way through treatment and miraculously, no more breakages.
