Sex and the City Character

My daughter has just got into watching Sex and the City and is really enjoying it.

She's got a huge crush on Mr Big. I haven't yet told her what he's supposedly been up to in real life as it will taint the programme for her.

Anyway, she said that out of the four characters, I remind her of Carrie Bradshaw as I used to have a very busy social life in London, worked for a newspaper and was very into clothes etc. She thinks our personalities are similar too.

Although I was chuffed about this, I'm also feeling a little sad as I now sit here as an overweight middle aged woman who rarely goes out.

Which character are you and why?

How old is your dd?

BloodyThursday · 30/03/2023 23:48

Samantha. Bit of a shagger and made out I didn't want to settle down.

Miranda

Charlotte. Care a lot about my friends and always believes in love.

MeinKraft · 30/03/2023 23:57

I loved this when I was younger but honestly now I don't think there's a single character that wasn't completely awful. So none of them, I hope.

ladydimitrescu · 31/03/2023 00:15

Magda, the angry nanny that Miranda employs who is lovely with them really, but despises most people.

MobilityCat · 31/03/2023 00:28

Please don't misunderstand me, I love animals but don't understand the way people beggar themselves with vet bills when the animal is past redemption. My neighbour's cat was injured and reduced to pulling itself forward by it's front legs and dragging it's back legs sideways.
My neighbours and I begged her to put it out of it's misery but she kept taking it to the vet, £500 each visit, and all he could do was advise her the same.
Eventually she did.

Miranda.

PoppyCocky · 31/03/2023 05:20

I'd like to think I'm a Charlotte but probably more of a Steve
I love Magda!

PoppyCocky · 31/03/2023 05:24

Oh and why? I have this weird dichotomy in my personality where I can be very neat, obsessively so and highly strung, very squeamish about sex and traditional, very home and family focused but every now and then I think fuck it and slob out like Steve and do unconventional and very laid back things. For example from cooking 3 course meal from scratch every night to 3 days of beige oven food or cereal and toast. From dressing up in pretty fitted dresses to lazing about in messy bun and leggings. I'm romantic and believe in marriage and lifetime commitment.

Goodread1 · 31/03/2023 05:53

I loved the TV series at the time,
Thought it was was quite edgy risqué didn't get the obsession with designer materialistic footwear, well I can get the range of styles choice, but not how much eye watering amount spend of them,

I couldn't stand Any sex and the city movies based on TV series,
I thought they were crap, shouldn't have been made,, don't know whos clever idea that was ,
Rarely a follow on movies 🎬 created to cash in on popularity of TV series are ever as good as the TV series, the magic 🎩 ✨️ of whatever made it successful gets losed in translation interpretation of them adapting to large screen 🎬 movies.

I am not sure which character I am specifically,
I think I have aspects of all three characters to a certain /lesser degree...

Same here!

wordonthestreetisthat · 31/03/2023 22:37

I think I'm a bit like Miranda!

I know what I want and expect from life!

StellaGibson2022 · 31/03/2023 23:02

Back in the day I loved the TV show but when I catch episodes now I just find them all awful! If i had to choose the best character it would be Samantha, the worst was Carrie (so self obsessed). I always wanted to be like Miranda (work focus, knowing what she wanted etc, successful working mum)

Iflyaway · 31/03/2023 23:06

Samantha was great!

Every time I pass the fire station I chuckle thinking about her.

HighInfidelity · 31/03/2023 23:11

Samantha definitely.

i always found Mr Big creepy and weird and never understood what Carrie saw in him.
