Does anyone live in Morecambe? Is it nice?

Found a lovely home probably our dream house to be honest.

we are in west mids and are ready to give up our awful life here. Stabbings, traffic, not much to do unless you want to go shopping.

The idea of living near the seaside is lovely but I can imagine it’s not realistic. So would appreciate any honest opinions.

There are worse places I am sure. Not much to do and will be slower pace than where you are now but of that's what you are looking for then that's great! The new Eden project is hopefully going to boost the local area and economy too

Proximity to the Lakes is a bonus but you still aren't too far away from the cities of Liverpool and Manchester for some bright lights when you want them.

I'm from Morecambe, there are some nice places, but a few rough areas and like most seaside resorts, there's a lot of run down areas, deprivation, etc. Not much in the way of decent employment/industry besides the power stations, hospital and University, so employment prospects limited if you're not in those occupations. Things may be looking up, Winter Gardens theatre recently got a few million in grants to help renovate it, and the Eden Project North has been given the go ahead, so they may kick start some kind of revival of fortunes. Nowhere better to go for walks on the prom in good weather, stunning views over the bay to the lake district hills.

That’s what we’re looking for a much more chill relaxed life. But then again we are so use to having so many different places to go shopping so that might be difficult to get use to!

Not sure why mn has just suggested this thread to me now, but yes, I do and I moved from a big city too. It has pro's and cons but if you're still on the thread @Alwaystired9 I'm happy to answer any questions. FWIW I adore it here but you do have to travel to go shopping!
