I've broken 2 bones in my hand. Mainly the bone running in my hand down from my little finger. The break is "displaced". That is one part of the bone is pushed inside and the broken bone ain't lined up for healing.
I did this last week. I've had a follow up appointment this week.
They are opting to do nothing. And quite certain that nothing is needed. It's in a Velcro splint. Keep it in splint for 3-4 weeks, back to normal in 5-6 weeks.
I WANT to trust what I've been told. And the thought of an operation no matter how minor does not fill me with joy. But I can't help being sceptical. How can bones that aren't aligned heal properly and without future impact?
I want strong bones/hands for the future. Not ones that are somewhat "less" for the sake of "ah, it'll probably be fine".
What are your experiences of this? We're the bones manipulated back in line in some way? If not, how is your hand now?
Thanks!
