What next for ds?

Based on latest mock results which came out today, ds is going to fail gcses.
All 3's except catering. A splattering of 2s.
We are aware whatever he does he will need to repeat english and maths.
I sent him a screenshot of his results and he has basically turned off now. His response (snippets) was:

" I cba I try so hard and nothing happens
Like catering for example
A fucking merit
I’m just disappointed in catering
11 ,000 words for a merit
Just English idk what I’m doing wrong"

But... he had an interview for catering at college he didnt go to as he doesnt actually want to do it.

We dont think he will get into 6th form at his current school.

Am I too late to apply for him for other things at college?. When do we apply for apprenticeships?
Please can I have some help navigation wise?
I want to give him some options before we sit down and talk. (We text earlier as I was just showing him I had received it.)

Oh bless him. That must be so hard for him. He sounds so disappointed in himself, no wonder he’s disengaged. Sorry I can’t advise but want to give him a hug!!

When I say turned off now, I dont mean since my text. I mean this term. He has gone from U to 3 so that's a really good start. We were concerned before but he was like "I wasnt dialled in, now I am" he did a study plan etc. We said give it to this set of mocks. Since he did them a few weeks ago and knew he'd fell short he has just turned off. :(

I do too, and I try, but he only accepts them occasionally as he is very cross.

Sounds like a very poor school. Have they not given any sort of careers advice at all?! DDs school have done numerous presentations to the kids about their post 16 options. And then, 2 presentations to us as parents about it.

Does the school have a careers adviser? Id ring them 2m if i were you

Also, it might be an idea to ring some vocational colleges and see what they say his options might be too.
