Whatever happened to Easter eggs

Easter eggs used to be pretty, decorated with sugar flowers and tied with ribbon. We could have names applied in icing in Thorntons. Now they are all the same. Bring back the pretty eggs.

Not in my lifetime and I was born in the 80s. I don't remember eggs like that except in books.
I remember eggs with a treat inside like the smarties eggs. You can still get those for £1 in Tesco. Happy Days!
Thorntons chocolate is really disgusting though.

M and S have some very strange ones, including the fried eggs with sweet popcorn as the whites.

Costco had some last week that were the size of a small child.

Go to France or Germany (not very practical, sorry). They have beautiful Easter chocolate. I love the French Easter hens.

So go to Lidl. Their Easter hens are 😘👌

Kraft bought Cadburys, closed the factory down in our town and moved production abroad.

I had a member of staff supplier who would get me mini eggs.

I miss having to smash them open for the bag of sweets or chocolates inside.

It's funny you should say that because what I miss is how they used to be - you unwrapped the foil and the egg would open into two neat halves, with a thick rim of chocolate around the edge of each half. I was never bothered by the contents. That chocolate round the edges was the best tasting chocolate ever, I don't know how it tasted different to the rest of the egg, but somehow it did!

Never mind smashing eggs open . I remember when Easter eggs came in two halves,, so you could take out the smarties/ buttons (delete as applicable) and still have two whole un smashed halves of egg to eat. And the chocolate around the rim was always a good thickness.

Yes! That's what I liked the most.

Yes - after they had promised they wouldn't do it... they closed the factory down anyway. Bastards. As for what they have done to the recipe, well. Even bigger bastards.

Kraft - bunch of tossers. The whole world knows that Americans make utterly shit chocolate, so what do they do? Buy a good brand and turn that to shit as well.

You can still buy pretty eggs or ones with names on at Thorntons.
I prefer the old style foil wrapped ones with buttons or whatever inside the egg,

Same here! I used to like to get a buttons one and a jelly tots one!

I forgot about that!
