‘Baby’ talk

I may be flamed over this but just had 20 mins on a bus with a mum and around 6 month old baby in pram. I had to actually stop myself putting my hands over my ears , due to the constant stream of loud baby talk from the mum ‘Ickle boo boo’ ‘are you my ickle pie’ and ‘are you waving your handie’
Does this give anyone else the rage!!

Some babies cry or fuss if they are bored and aren't given attention. If it's baby talk vs loud crying I think I'd prefer the baby talk!

I'd be pleased a parent was talking to their baby rather than being glued to their phone.

Definitely take noise cancelling headphones for the bus (train, plane, underground...). It's a public space so best to anticipate someone will end up being annoying 😂

Baby talk is irritating but not as difficult to deal with as a screaming baby. Or a teenager playing their music loud. Or that person that just has to listen to a YouTube video on full volume or....

you are being totally unreasonable, baby talk is instinctive, and parents do it in a particular way to support the baby's communication - higher pitched, louder, sing-song, repetitive, rhyming, distinctive softening of words, extra Ks,

This sounds like a mum with a natural instinctive knowledge of how to communicate with her child and support their ear for speech in the most effective way.

Someone probably supported your speech in a similar way at a similar stage, most children are lucky enough to have people in their lives to speak to them like this - those that dont are far more likely to suffer speech and communication delays
