Anyone in Truro?

DH has been taken I'll while we're away and is in the Royal Cornwall. I have stayed on as long as I can but need to get home to our children.

Travel insurance will pay for a taxi/ chauffeur service when he's discharged, but I need to find someone willing to do the journey, apprpx 4.5 hours, similar to going to Heathrow.

Google just throws up a billion taxi firms, some which don't even seem to be local.

Turning to the power of mn to see if anyone can suggest a lovely firm who would do the job?

Can you ask the hospital for their recommendations? My Dad recently had to have a 3 hour journey home after a hospital stay and they gave him recommended firms.

Try A2B - they've got several outposts in and around Truro, probably got the monopoly locally. 01872 272989. Spikes Taxis mentioned above also good.

Hope your DH is on the mend.

You could also try The Pasty Connection on FB in case they have any tips.

Thank you all, I will start looking into these.

We're lucky he has been very well liked after and will be fine.

You should also look at taxis near you. Obviously, they will only be taking a fare one way (so doesn't matter if they come from your area to collect him or start from Truro and return). If you live near a major airport, you may find more transport options than you'd find in Cornwall.

Will he be fit for a regular taxi or will he need transport which can accommodate his needs / medical support etc?

Patient Transport can and will transfer him longer distances if required - they moved my BIL from Dorset to Yorkshire for his post-Covid recovery so he could be cared for by family there. The hospital can organise this or your insurance might be able to advise.
