When DC1 woke during the night, I'd go in and soothe him back to sleep without picking him up. I want to do the same with DC2 (12 months) but he screams holy murder if not picked up and I can't just leave him as he shares a room with his brother so wakes him up.

Result is, I have to take him out of the room to try and settle him but he ends up being awake for HOURS rather than settling back to sleep 😫 I'd happily take him into our bed but he's not interested and wants up.

Been up over half an hour so far with no sign of him going back down anytime soon.

I'm TIRED!!!

Ah I do feel your pain..
I have 2 DS, first is 2 and second is 1.
The first is a really light sleeper like me, the second is not such a light sleeper but is no noisy and once he's up he is UP - he headbangs to self soothe and is noisy about it ahh ahhh ahh ahhh as he does. Ive got a white noise machine on in there which seems to help take the edge off the noise of the other DC.

I've never had to take the other out of the room though, I've just tried to keep them in their room so they don't think its time to wake, otherwise like you, I doubt they'd go back down.

Do you have a white noise machine?

I have no more advice but yeah.. I'm here with you!!

That is tough could you move older child to your bed and deal with ds2 in their room?

Incidentally I'm awake because my asd son lost one of his chewlery bracelets and woke me to find it for him it took about 10 min and I had to put the light on so I now I cant sleep
