Do your DC use a prepaid credit card?

Looking for solutions for DS when he goes to secondary. ASD, naive, no concept of money or value. I don't want him to have something (app/card) with direct access to his bank account and he'd hand over cash to anyone he thought would like it.

As I understand it, you have to pay onto the card e.g. £20 and then you can use it as a credit card to buy up to £20 worth. Then it won't work until you load more money on. Have I understood correctly? Is this the best solution?

Have you looked at Hyperjar? I use this for me and dc it's free to use. I would highly recommend it.

We used Revolut for a while but it got harder and harder to add cash to the card, so we gave up. It's a good idea, but don't use Revolut!

My 11yo uses GoHenry which is the same thing. You can limit how much they spend, where they can spend etc. My 15yo had an Osper card until she changed to a bank account.

Small transfers are likely to have high account charges, in any case for pocket money amounts a card is not ideal, small amounts of cash each day and you supervise larger purchases would be my choice.

My DC use GoHenry which works well for us.

Go Henry might work? They've got an offer on via my Three+ rewards at the moment, so if you use 3 as your mobile provider, register for Three+ rewards and you'll see the offer on there - free for 6 months plus £5 pocket money!

We've always used Go Henry too. £2.99 per month per card charge and second and subsequent loads to the parent account cost 50p in the same calendar month. The first load to the parent account is included in the monthly fee.
