Weather to be so annoyed by it at the moment

All it seems to do is rain continuously here at the moment.
Before that it was freezing and has killed off my palm trees.
I am fully aware its first world problems.

It rained, snowed and hailed here in Germany yesterday , in-between we had some periods of sun, it was also freezing. It was a horrible day.

SquirmOfEels · 28/03/2023 13:25

Yes, distinctly dull day today.

Glad to see steady rain though (Fill those reservoirs! Avoid sudden catastrophic downpours and floods!)

And there was a gorgeous rainbow last week.

Just a shame it feels chilly again

Spudlet · 28/03/2023 13:32

I saw a thing on Facebook the other day that said ‘At this point, it’s not winter any more, it’s harassment’…

I’m so tired of being cold all the time 🤷‍♀️

Lolly49 · 28/03/2023 13:35

We had a week of minus 6 here that’s the one that ruined the palm trees.

I am thanking the gods for the rain. Without it this country would be screwed.

SquirmOfEels · 28/03/2023 13:40

It's always feels really long-haul for me in Feb/March. It's not exciting "nights drawing in" or the drama of snow. Just grey, chilly dullness and still weeks before reliably warm weather.

BarrelOfOtters · 28/03/2023 13:40

It feels like the longest winter ever. I want to get out in the garden and have honestly only had about 4 chances in the last few weeks. It's been wet, or just been raining heavily or too bloody cold or too bloody windy.

I live in a bit of the country that doesn't need to worry about reservoirs.

Number24Bus · 28/03/2023 13:41

It's nearly the end of March though! We might get some warm weather soon! <optimist>

Theunamedcat · 28/03/2023 14:04

Rain is good for farming too much rain and its bad for farming feels like too much rain this year

Wheretheskyisblue · 28/03/2023 14:36

It has been so miserable, I would love some sun. Yesterday there was a brief respite and I managed to pressure wash my patio. I had forgotton how nice it is to have sun on my face, back to the cold cloudy skies today.

GMOOH2023 · 28/03/2023 14:41

I'm in SW France. The weather has been atrocious!

Granted we have had a couple of sunny days recently, but my FB posts from this time in previous years show the garden bursting with colour whereas this year we are only just seeing the first buds and blossom.

Bluevelvetsofa · 28/03/2023 14:46

My little flowering cherry should shortly display its full glory. Pound to a penny, when it’s in full blossom, the wind and rain will denude it.

TokyoSushi · 28/03/2023 14:48

It's often like this at this time of year. I think the light makes me think that it should be better, but the reality is that it's still wintery, just less dark!

goldenotter · 28/03/2023 14:49

yep it's been rough and especially rough on my mental health. I struggle, by this time of year we're usually somewhat warmer and brighter, hard enough that we got through winter so far but no real sun yet! and still going to be horrid next week by the looks of things. Roll on spring please!!!

BarrelOfOtters · 28/03/2023 15:10

I do think it's been a hard slog since before Christmas. Probably wasn't helped that I got Covid badly and then another virus really badly.

Mollyplop999 · 28/03/2023 15:15

I'm fed up of it now. Spent an hour grooming my pony this morning, got the tack on and it began raining sideways. Back everything went. And it's onkyv5 degrees!

YouveGotToGrooveIt · 28/03/2023 15:16

Yup - everyday I am just hanging on for some warmer and drier weather. If I could turn the heating off, that'd be a start.

Justlovedogs · 28/03/2023 15:38

YANBU. I try to stay positive (spring is round the corner) but it's very hard, especially when DH won't stop grumbling about it!
There are buds on the trees, new growth on my roses and lambs in the field near me (East Kent) so it's got to get better soon... Daffodil

GoodVibesHere · 28/03/2023 22:26

Yes and the forecast doesn't look particularly great for the coming weeks either - more grey drizzle and gusty winds! When will we get a reliable bout of sunshine?!

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 28/03/2023 22:36

Yep. My Facebook memories from a year ago had me mowing the grass and sorting the garden. Still not been able to cut the grass this year 😔

echt · 28/03/2023 22:39

Just a thought... For different reasons there was a six-month winter (June - November) in Victoria last year, barely any spring and an indifferent summer. The autumn started in February, this year the last month of summer.

It's shit.

echt · 28/03/2023 22:40

Sorry. Sharing the misery.

Annoyingwurringnoise · 28/03/2023 22:50

Yesterday was beautifully bright but quite chilly, the first dry day in ages so I could get some washing dry outside. Today it has been minging and pissed down again.

I have an end of March birthday, and it can range from 23° like an early summers day, to freezing, annd everything in between. This year looks like rain and meh.

I have been cold this evening, in fact I’ve been cold all day. It’s that annoying time of the year when it’s not massively cold outside but the cold lingers in the house. Very frustrating, especially when putting the heating on for an hour comes with such guilt and trepidation.

Crispynoodle · 28/03/2023 23:01

My fb memory from last year had me swimming in the sea! I live in Northern Ireland! I haven't put my big coat/hat/gloves away yet

I often wondered this about palm trees in the uk. Can you wrap them up?
