Ideas if things to do in Bromley/Kent

Hi, my mum is coming to visit (60s, arthritic so can do some walking but no hikes etc) and am looking for ideas on things we can do in the day? I'm in SE London and looking at things within about a 45 min drive. Thinking quaint high streets with a nice pub/cafe/babbling brook to go for a stroll and occupy a few hours of the day.

Am close to places like Bromley, Sevenoaks, and wider Bexley and Kent. Ideas I have so far are:

  • Chipstead
  • Hall Place Park

And that's about it Confused

Closer to home are Greenwich and Blackheath, but looking to try new areas as we've done those several times.

Thanks so much for any advice!

Oooh thanks, the first 3 suggestions are places I've all visited before.

You've also reminded me of Eltham Palace which I haven't taken her too yet Grin

Knole Park is lovely too - lots of deer. It's not a 'park' park so rough grassland, some mown tracks and some laid paths I think. The house is open sometimes and nice picnic areas.

Penshurst Place - might be a little bit far?

Swanley is very niced for shopping and not very far out of SE London

Swanley is grim.
Emmets Garden is lovely another National Trust Place.

Lavender House in Sundridge Park for coffee , lunch or tea and there are some cute little shops there to explore.

Thanks again for the suggestions! I've been to Swanley park before which was nice, but haven't tried the shopping to be fair!

I second the lavender farm shop in Shoreham. Lots of lovely gifts and nice walks nearby.

The Himalayan Gardens near Sevenoaks is a lovely place for a walk. May not be open for a few weeks yet.

Yes I’ve been to Severndroog many times, but the walk up and around there won’t be good on her knees. Beautiful place!
