Supposed to visit next week. Is it hideous? What’s the rubbish situation? Should we bail? Accommodation pre paid so would lose that and it’s quite a lot. Thanks in advance

I’d bail. Honestly, it’s not particularly safe currently.

Legoandloldolls · 27/03/2023 10:34

Following as I'm going in two weeks. But only for a long weekend

RosaBonheur · 27/03/2023 10:36

Are you in Paris, @Cherrysoup? Or just getting your information from the UK media?

I was in Paris on Saturday, the bin situation was a bit grim but other than that it was fine. I expect they'll have sorted the bins out by the weekend.

Even if there are problems next week, it won't be all over the city so you should be fine just avoiding any trouble spots. Where are you staying?

Talking to friends there. I used to live there.

Travelling to a major French city on Saturday and it hasn’t even crossed my mind not to go.

graywall · 27/03/2023 10:46

So much depends where you go. I walked around Paris on Saturday whilst my husband was doing a course - parts of the 10eme, 11eme and 19eme had no rubbish, 20eme had lots of rubbish but also rubbish trucks clearing up. The streets were a bit grubbier than usual but nothing more than that. In terms of safety you just need to be careful - it tends to be very localised. Tomorrow will be a big protest day, but life will go on outside of this

Babymamamama · 29/03/2023 20:49

Watching with interest. Just wondering if anyone has more intel?

Orchid90 · 30/03/2023 03:03

Watching too, as I booked beginning of may .
I got a colleague who is there now and she said she is been fine.

AngeloMysterioso · 31/03/2023 07:37

Bumping this thread to ask- does anyone know of a Parisian version of something like M&S? DH and I are on our way there today and in my rush to finish packing last night I somehow managed to not put my bras in my case… will need to buy a couple more but don’t want to spend a fortune!

PetitsGateaux · 31/03/2023 07:42

I would try H&M or C&A!

Polpette · 31/03/2023 07:48

I've been there all week, absolutely fine. Didn't seem any different to usual.

ElizabethBest · 31/03/2023 07:49

We just got back. it’s the same as usual, more or less.

Orchid90 · 31/03/2023 14:41

@AngeloMysterioso if you don’t need a big size TEZENIS. can be quite cheap . There is only in London here , but in Italy there a loads and they sell cheapish bras. The only thing is that in Italy they don’t really go past a 34D.

bowzen · 03/04/2023 09:28

My partner and toddler have been there the past few days with no issues at all

Babymamamama · 05/04/2023 22:03

Any ideas how it might pan out tomorrow?

TheaBrandt · 05/04/2023 22:27

Here and having an amazing time. Lots of riot vans and police but all fine. Tomorrow will stay local though.

Glad you made it, darling. Have a wonderful time, but stay safe. France is turbulent.
