Hiya
We are going on Wednesday
What kind of temperatures should we expect this time of year?
Will we need a jacket in the night

My friend is currently in paphos and said it's cold at night and everyone is wearing coats

I've been in February and it was quite cold at times.

mdh2020 · 27/03/2023 08:16

A friend is there at the moment and from her photos, I would say it’s hot. However we went in February and I would say it was mainly warm and chilly in the evening.

BarbaraofSeville · 27/03/2023 08:20

Not GC, but other Canaries at this time of year. It's variable, can be anything from cool/cloudy/windy/some rain to hot and sunny. it also depends on which side of the island you're on (weather much better on south side) and your tolerance for heat/cold.

There's been many a time where we've been outside a restaurant or bar in the evening and DP is comfortable in a t shirt and knee length shorts and I have leggings on under my dress, a hoodie on over the top of it and I'm still cold.

You need to prepare for most eventualities, which isn't helpful if you're limited with your luggage allowance.

gogoflow · 27/03/2023 08:20

We are going to mogan which I believe is south of the island

Just checked accuweather and it's showing this-seems a bit high for this time of year
Does anyone know any more accurate weather forecasts ?
I've packed long trousers and denim jacket for night but now wondering if it might be too warm
We only have 10kg case and small bag with Ryanair

Has anyone been to Gran Canaria in March ?

More accurate?

you realise you can wear a couple of layers on the plane ‘for free’ right?

AbreathofFrenchair · 27/03/2023 09:32

There Facebook groups for the canaries join one and ask someone who is there.

Generally though, the canaries can be windy which adds to the night time chill factor and it's not uncommon to need a cardigan or jacket of a night.

March is usually around 17 degrees during the day so they must be going into am early heatwave if its 30 over there

Sorry, a quick google says today is 20 degrees with a feel of 16!

Definitely get on the facebook pages and find out

I have been to Mogan. It’s a little heat spot as it is so sheltered. We went in Easter (can’t remember if late March or early April) and chose Mogan over everywhere else for that reason. Anyway it was lovely - mid 20s and sunny. Pool was cold though as so early in season. It’s a lovely place - lots of nice restaurants and very pretty.

recklessgran · 27/03/2023 09:39

We were there 5th to 12th so got back a fortnight ago. You definitely won't need long trousers or a jacket OP. I wore summer dresses in the evening and a couple of times wore a light lacy cotton cardi as there was a bit of a breeze. For context I'm a cold person if you get me. Have a great time OP - we go every year in December and March and our March holiday is always lovely - just right for sunbed/pool/paperback.

Verite1 · 27/03/2023 09:41

I’ve also been to maspalamos in GC - temperature is much cooler there by way of example. That’s mainly because of the breeze that you don’t get in Mogan

gogoflow · 27/03/2023 09:54

Every weather app says something different doesn't it -you have to pack for rain ,snow and a heatwave 😂😂

@recklessgran ah fab hope you had a lovely holiday
What area did you go too?
We are thinking of booking for November too for winter sun -can't decide between GC or lanzarote

It was on weather.com

The gran canaria Facebook page is saying around 21 of an evening and not needing anything but then others are wearing light jackets!

I go Tenerife in August when it's over 35 during the day and around 25/30 of a night and still take a cardigan because I feel the cold regardless so I'm potentially the worst person to ask 😂

Anything with sleeves will be handy for the plane anyway

gogoflow · 27/03/2023 10:09

@AbreathofFrenchair ha ha I know what you mean -I hate being cold

recklessgran · 27/03/2023 10:15

@gogoflow we go to San Agustin - in fact we stay AI at The Bull Costa Canaria. We love it there the bonus being there is a heated outdoor pool and a Spa which is useful especially if there happens to be a rainy day. [More likely in December.] This hotel is perfect for us as the food's good it's adults only and has an older demographic. We jokingly refer to it as The Old People's Home but always have the best time there. We usually do a day trip to Mogan and travel halfway home by boat - Mogan to Arguineguin. Hope you have the best time.

gogoflow · 27/03/2023 12:17

We are staying adults only too
I really can't wait for some sunshine (fingers crossed )
Going to put some gradual tan on tonight as I'm so so pasty

As I absolutely hate being cold I would definitely want something warmer for the evenings. You will need a jacket for the plane anyway.

We had a March holiday in Lanzarote one year and definitely needed jackets for the evenings. Once the sun went down the temperatures dropped sgnificantly.

Have a great holiday.

girlfriend44 · 27/03/2023 13:59

just check the weather online it will tell you.

bubbles2023 · 27/03/2023 14:25

It's hot at the minute. Mogan (near Puerto Rico) is known to be the hottest of the canary resorts.

Paphos is nowhere near the Canaries, which at this time of year are early to mid 20s and warm. Possibly also breezy.

Take a light cardigan or denim jacket for the evenings.

Waitingfortaco · 27/03/2023 18:44

My MIL is there right now. She said it was 27° yesterday.

Billydaffodil · 28/03/2023 00:11

My Dad just flew back yesterday, he said one day was 31 degrees! He loved it! Hope you have a great time 🌞

gogoflow · 28/03/2023 11:21

Thanks everyone
Apparently they are having a heatwave and going to be up to 34 degrees tomorrow and Thursday
So excited now

Has anyone been to Gran Canaria in March ?
