I started a new job recently, not that far from home - a 20 minute drive/a good hours walk. Most of the people there live quite locally to me and either walk or cycle unless the weather is bad when they get the bus. There's a guy there (who I haven't warmed to but that's another thread) who made a snarky comment on finding out where I lived and that I drive to work. It's not "very green" apparently. I let it go but last week he made another snarky comment after we went out for drinks because they were walking home after and I got the bus. He clearly doesn't like me.
The thing is - I am on medication which makes my ankles swell. They feel sore and bruised at the best of times, but if I am on my feet too much or walk too far they get even more swollen and uncomfortable. Which is why I drive to work. There's something going on tomorrow which I can't get out of which I know will make my ankles swell up more and I really want to take him to one side at the end of the day, take my boots off and show him my swollen ankles. I'll just tell him this is why I drive, but I want him to know that he has no right to judge me when he doesn't know the facts.
What do you think? I'll keep my medical reasons why private but I want to show him why I drive to shut him up. And hope that he'll think next time before judging someone.
