How will you/have you explained lockdowns to your lockdown born child?

Just that really 😬 It’s not actually a situation I’d ever considered!

DS caught me off guard with a couple of questions this week and it threw me a bit. I’m pretty firmly in the “move on with life now” mindset but I felt a bit sad having to try and explain things to him!

Nothing heavy obviously - he’s a toddler! But he saw a picture of a friend and her husband leaving the hospital with their newborn and a big balloon - I explained that baby was born and was getting to go home with her mummy and daddy. He asked to see a picture of when he went home 🙁 which we don’t have! So I showed him other pictures of him as a baby etc and showed him the one picture we have of DH, DS and I in the hospital just after he was born and he asked why Daddy was hiding his face (mask on!) 🙁

Obviously a lot of you will have experience the lockdowns etc with a toddler! Is there a decent way of explaining it?
