We have some American friends coming to stay over Easter and want to take them to a really Indian for dinner… Pref central London, authentic and delicious. Dishoom is my go to but they don’t have any availability for the nights we’d want at a time we need (3/4th April 5:30-8pm) and they’ve been recommended the likes of veeraswamy but ££££

hit me!

Khan's in Westbourne Grove. London institution

Last time I went was shortly before covid but it had gone so massively downhill I’ve never gone back.

This place is amazing, lovely relaxed vibe and lots of small plates to choose from so you don't leave feeling too full. Bone marrow Naan hmmmm

Shameless placemark

drinkingcream · 26/03/2023 21:19

Can you go go dishoom in Kensington?

Citygirlrurallife · 26/03/2023 21:20

Thanks so much for recs, several of the expensive ones I know about but trying not to hit the high prices of veeraswamy and the cinnamon club. Queuing for dishoom I likely as we’re a group of 10!! But will check out all others, thankyou!!

Indian Zing is really good, but it is in Hammersmith so may be too far away.

cyclamenqueen · 26/03/2023 21:23

The tandoori chop house just of Trafalgar Sq

SoFED · 26/03/2023 21:25

Brigadiers just amazing!! And last time we went had a super private area just for our party.

MangshorJhol · 26/03/2023 21:26

Ok I am Indian (if that helps). Also live is the US with our much larger portion sizes! I like the Dishoom breakfast. I found Benares overpriced. Cinnamon Club and Cinnamon Kitchen are both great- the former has a more traditional menu and the latter is more ‘fusion.’. Tayyabs for kebabs and biriyani. Both Jamavar and Gymkhana are better than Benares in my opinion. I also highly recommend Potli in Hammersmith. Excellent food.

popopop · 26/03/2023 21:39

Tayyabs 💯%

jimloop · 26/03/2023 21:43

Masala Zone Covent Garden is amazing 😋

Amrapaali · 26/03/2023 21:45

Masala Zone in Covent Garden
Hankies in Marble Arch

Amrapaali · 26/03/2023 21:45

Snap @jimloop 😁

KingscoteStaff · 26/03/2023 21:46

Another one for ChutneyMary. Best service ever and SO beautiful.

amaretti1999 · 26/03/2023 21:47

You could go to Dishoom for breakfast... their bacon and egg nans with chilli jam are lush - with bottomless chai latte 😋

Amrapaali · 26/03/2023 21:47

Veeraseamy and the Cinnamon Club are trading on past glories I think. There are much better and cheaper options around.

fufulina · 26/03/2023 21:48

The Tamil Prince is fabulous.
City Spice on Brick Lane is old school and also brilliant. Very different places - both delicious.

Namechanger355 · 26/03/2023 21:50

Gymkhana but pricey

chutney Mary but same

tayyabs but very different feel - great food, bring your own bottle!

Mariposa26 · 26/03/2023 21:53

Another vote for Gymkhana. Also love Brigadiers and Gunpowder.

SaywhatnowMartin · 26/03/2023 22:15

Masala Zone

Haus1234 · 26/03/2023 22:17

Gunpowder has a similar vibe to Dishoom, I think there are a few branches

Verite1 · 26/03/2023 22:24

Bibi is amazing but v expensive. Kricket is nice. So is Trishna if you like seafood

Verite1 · 26/03/2023 22:26

Bombay bustle also good but overpriced I think. Heard good thinks about gunpowder and Tamil Prince but not been to either.
