After a discussion with my Mother who has a very selective memory at times, I distinctly remember she would dish up in the early 80's a nondescript orange coloured curry. with plain boiled rice and on the table would be diced tomato and cucumber, desiccated coconut and sliced banana all to sprinkle on top of said curry, was this actually a thing or have I dreamt it up.

Just had a flashback to 1970s school dinner curry. Yellow with raisan in it. Known as vomit and rice.

I think.at my school.it was more of a green colour?
With just the vaguest hint of curry🤔

Anyone else's memory jogged by the 1970's Vesta curry? Grin

Yes and Vesta chow mien and Vesta paella.
Meals to brag about at school.

The curry I made in Home Ec had apples and sultanas in it, I think that was pretty standard at the time. I'm not sure about banana to go on top, but banana in curry was also a thing.

I remember the raisins! My mother thought I liked them as I always ate them first. No, I'm picking them out first to get them over and done with, and to be able to eat the curry without fear of ambush.
