1kg beef topside?

would you brown it in a frying pan first?
cover in foil?

ashamed to say I only usually cook joints in the doily trays 😳

packed just gives timings based on size but anyone have any pearls of wisdom?

I would do it on dehydrate in the ninja for about 6 hours. Or in the slow cooker with some red wine etc. Hardly ever use my oven.

Roast it in the oven for about three hours. Less if you like it rare.

I’d cook it in the slowcooker. Topside can be very dry.

1tsp plain flour, 1tsp mustard powder, salt & pepper and rub into the joint.

Cook it on top of something to raise it so it doesn't sit on the bottom of the roasting pan. So chopped carrots and onions or a rack.

Then follow these instructions for cooking times based on weight.

So for 1kg at medium it's as per the photo.

Preheat oven as high as it will go and just put it in the oven, probably about 45minutes, then let it rest

Greensleevevssnotnose · 26/03/2023 14:24

1kg would take about 40 minutes at 180 but I love it rare with crispy ends. Maybe an hour if you prefer well done then rest in foul for at least 30 mins whilst you do the rest
