Hancock and Kwarteng get out of bed for £10,000 a day.

Article in the Guardian confirming we are not all in this together. The Campaign group Led by Donkeys set up a fake company based in Korea and contacted MPs to ask if they would be willing to act an advisor. Only one (sadly unnamed) apparently suspected the approach wasn’t all it seemed to be, the rest happily set out their price list . Kwasi was very keen, reminding the interviewer of his -short lived- experience as Chancellor and helpfully remarking that he wouldn’t need a regular monthly payment, just the 10 grand a day plus extra if he was required to actually visit Korea. Matt was extremely businesslike, you got the feeling this is not the first time he has dipped his snout in the advisor trough.

When are they going to be stopped? We all laughed in disbelief at the house flipping, the bird houses and bath plug demands of yesteryear , but is it my imagination or have they got greedier, and bolder, in the last few years despite the regulations that were supposed to curtail their abuse of privileges?

These people are such amazing value for money.

MPs should not be allowed to have outside interests and their finances should be made public not just while they are in office but for the remainder of their lives to ensure they aren't doing favours now for remuneration later on. They should also not be allowed to claim expenses. The pay is what it is, and they know what it is before they take the job. It's far more than what most people earn. If they don't think it's enough, they should seek employment elsewhere.

I think for transparency all tax returns, full clarity on business interests should be public.

So what? whats the big problem? If someone called me and asked what I'd charge to talk at an event then I'd have my price.

I've worked in law firms where I've heard lawyers say they woukdbt get out of bed for x amount.

This. No one pretends that the company was offering to hire them for their financial acumen, intelligence, knowledge of Korean financial institutions, experience in international financial dealings of any sort, they are being offered amounts of money simply for the inferred influence and pressure they can bring to bear on our government, financial institutions within the uk, the introductions they can make, the hope that they can smooth paths and plans. It is used fivers in brown paper bags by another name.

To continue the lawyer analogy, high paid lawyers are paid for their understanding of law, their ability to present cogent legal arguments, their verbal skills in cross examination, they are not being paid because they belong to the same exclusive club as the judge, can offer the judge weekends in five star hotels , or can get the judge into the royal box at Wimbledon so expecting the judge to look upon them favourably.

I wonder how much the billionaires that are behind transgender ideology being forced on us, pay to politicians and organisations?

Zuffe · 26/03/2023 16:29

Well at least they are being paid to get out of bed.

Would anybody seriously pay anything to get into bed with either of them?

Well, someone other than his wife did jump into bed with Hancock for nothing.

Seriously? The Kwarteng who caused ongoing misery to millions of people because of his flawed ideology?
