On period on holiday ...help

chellseaa · 25/03/2023 12:59

So today I've came on my period and I go on holiday on Wednesday so I'll be on day 5.
By then my period is light and normally stops around day 6
Would you risk going in pool or would you wait till it's over totally.
I can't wear tampons at all
Typical to come on so close to holiday but I guess it could be worse and could be next week.
Any tricks for getting it to finish sooner ?

Risk it. You won't bleed at all in water as the water itself has a pressure nothing would come out. Take a shower beforehand and then go in and don't hang around too long before getting changed afterwards and you'll be fine!

You can get period swimwear - no idea how it works or if it does, but if you're on a very light day it might work.

QuimIsASwearWord · 25/03/2023 13:05

Unless I had proper period swimming bottoms or a cup inserted I wouldn't go in the pool when I'm on my period and still bleeding no matter how light the flow is. You could maybe try and get a pair of period swimming bottoms but I'm not sure how pricey they are.

Why don't you wear a menstrual cup? Going in a shared pool without one is really unhygienic and inconsiderate towards others. If you are only going in your own private pool, though, you can do whatever you want.

lipstickwoman · 25/03/2023 13:10

Surely you can miss the pool just for one day?!

howmanybicycles · 25/03/2023 13:15

I have bled in a pool. My flow can be very heavy. I thought I'd finished, but no. But period swimming pants or don't go in.

GBoucher · 25/03/2023 13:22

I have also bled in the bath. Luckily alone in my own tub in my own home. The 'not bleeding in water' is a myth. Please don't go in a non-private pool unprotected.

AperolWhore · 25/03/2023 13:32

Absolutely do not go in the pool unless you have period swimwear on. It’s unhygienic and could cause a pool closure.

Not bleeding in water is a myth.

HagWithAtt · 25/03/2023 13:32

Of course you shouldn't go in the pool until your period has finished.

Lucyluwhereareyou · 25/03/2023 13:33

I came on to suggest period swimming pants!

MrNook · 25/03/2023 13:34

No don't go in the pool if you're not wearing a tampon. Just miss the pool for one day

Marshmallowmountain · 25/03/2023 13:34

Please don’t go in a public pool until it’s 100% finished, that’s just selfish. Just don’t swim for a day or two??

Porthia · 25/03/2023 13:34

I have period swimwear (think mine is from modibodi). It’s brilliant. If it’s a really heavy flow I might have a tampon as well but if it’s just the end of my period I just use the period swimwear and so far so good. Handy as just realised my period will be due on the first day of my 1 week holiday to Tenerife over Easter. Great(!)

Smartiepants79 · 25/03/2023 13:38

Period pants under swimwear. It works for my DD

Cherryblossoms85 · 25/03/2023 13:39

Mirena😁

Standbyguest · 25/03/2023 15:25

For one day I would just give it a miss.

rwalker · 25/03/2023 15:27

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 25/03/2023 17:05

I started my period last holiday. It was really heavy and I kept bleeding into my costume even with a tampon in. I really hate tampons as well! I went in the pool but wouldn't have without a tampon and without washing what was on the costume. If you don't bleed in the pool what happens when you get out?
