Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I've had a lie in, which is unusual for me, and am just drinking my first cuppa of the day. The only noise is the fridge humming away, and the wind in the trees at the bottom of the garden. Bliss!

We're off into town shortly to nip to the market for some fresh fruit for the week, and some chocolatey things for my Rainbows, Brownies, and Guides for Tuesday evening. I'm still feeling a bit under the weather so hopefully not a long trip!

I do need to do some washing too, and a bit of cleaning around the house, but that'll get done over the course of the weekend.

I expect the girls will just chill when we get in, yesterday was a hard day saying goodbye to Nanna.

No idea what's for tea yet, something quite gentle on the stomach again, but it's all getting a bit boring & repetitive 😢

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam - I’ve missed your Saturday threads! How are you feeling now? I hope you’re much better. Some nasty things going around.

On the coffee in bed right now, soon will change beds - the rest of the house is surprisingly in order! DD going into town with her friends for a while, I’m heading off to the cinema later. She’s off to a sleepover later so I’m planning a chilled evening with a film and a face mask!

InFiveMins · 25/03/2023 09:42

Morning all.

Had a bit of a lie in so now going to have a quick tidy up and will then put a curry in the slow cooker for later and head out to take some bits to the tip. Will have a nice walk around the park and stop for a coffee and a sandwich.

Going to stop off at the library on the way home and pick up a couple of books as I'm determined to read more this year.

Chilled night planned in front of the TV later with a few glasses of wine.

Funkyslippers · 25/03/2023 09:45

Sorry to hear that OP 💞.

It's dd2's 14th birthday today so just waiting for her & friend to finish eating breakfast then she can open her presents. I've been up since 7.30!

They're walking my friend's dog this morning while I potter around then this afternoon we're going to a new attraction in town then to an all you can eat restaurant for tea to keep everyone happy!

Should be a great day. Shame DD1 isn't here, she's 200 miles away at uni

Decafflatteplease · 25/03/2023 09:50

Morning @lucysmam sorry to hear you still not well, there's so many bugs around at the moment it seems!

I'm debating putting washing on line, weather app says rain but the skies say sun

I'm looking forward to today we are off to the library in a bit, then we've got a few things to do in town, the teens will do their own thing in town, younger ones are getting haircuts, and I've got a few things to drop off a recycling point in shops (batteries, contact lense cases). Also need to spend world book Day vouchers!

Lunch in town then a chilled afternoon at home.

Not sure what for dinner, DH out this evening so I'm on dinner / bath / bed duty. I'll pick up something In town probably.

I really want to get some reading done tonight, haven't read since Sunday!

Happy Saturday all!

Peckhaminn · 25/03/2023 09:51

Morning! Slight headache this morning as had some friends over for dinner and drinks last night but was awake by 7:30. Just showered and got into some comfies whilst DP has gone to golf with his dad and I'm currently having my first coffee. Quite miserable where we are so was hoping to sit in the garden and catch some rays but not looking likely. So I think I'll binge watch some Shadow and Bone on Netflix and relax. Hope you all have a lovely day

MinnieMountain · 25/03/2023 09:52

Morning!
I’m waiting for DH to take DS to visit DH’s DGM so I can enjoy the peace.
I’ve got a new book to start.
We’re spending the afternoon pottering around a local town with MIL for her birthday thing.
Probably takeaway for supper but not Indian (for a change) as our town has a large Muslim population.

Slimjimtobe · 25/03/2023 09:56

Good Morning Lucy ! Have also missed you. Take good care of yourself

it’s a funny one this morning - I had fat club 🤣only joking - healthy eating club

dc have a party so I will be driving them around and they will want to watch ant and Dec later

I have a mini Prosecco for later and will watch a bit of Netflix

on the to do list is to get Easter eggs and not eat them (Aldi has lovely ones)

we have a builder in so will cook dinner for him

WhisperingAutistic · 25/03/2023 09:56

Morning!
I had a little lie in this morning with the cats.
DH has gone to choir practice and I'm taking one DS to piano practice and afterwards I'm taking both DS to the spring fair at the local community centre and then to Messy Church.
Tea will be sausage and mash tonight.

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 25/03/2023 09:57

Good morning everyone!

DS7 was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 a week and a half ago so I'm still very much getting my head around that and he's still recovering on his energy levels after being in hospital and I'm still very tired as it's like having a newborn baby back in the house with the night time checks.
We need to do some food shopping and navigate through that, the joys! 😒🤦🏻‍♀️ other than that it will be a very chilled day my brain hurts a lot. 😂

HoneyBeen · 25/03/2023 09:58

I've just finished a lovely breakfast in a hotel and currently getting ready for the doors opening for a weekend of punk bands and catching up with old friends at the gig with lots of beer.
Perfect.

BrutusMcDogface · 25/03/2023 10:02

I have had a really lazy morning but need to get ready to take my dd to her dance class. Then, Easter fair at school and about 500 loads of washing!

Hillrunning · 25/03/2023 10:02

I adore these threads. I've had a lovely slow morning. Having started a new job last week, I thought some peaceful times was due. I watered and fed the house plants while listening to an audio book. Then an hour long chat with a sister which was lovely. Had planned some gardening but the rain is coming down hard now. Will do some laundry, clear the spare room next. Dh asleep till 2 due to ight sifts but when he wakes we are going to plan the bathroom refit that we are saving up for.

mamaduckbone · 25/03/2023 10:03

Morning @lucysmam and all. Sorry to hear you've been unwell.

I've been for a run and I'm now drinking tea and eating porridge. Ds1 is still in bed, ds2 is off to the gym in a minute, Dh has been on the roof painting and has washed the car. He's a morning person (I'm not)

I've got a long overdue haircut booked later this morning, then we're watching ds1 play rugby this afternoon. We may stay at the club for a couple of drinks after the match, then home for chilli, which I need to get going in the slow cooker at some point this morning.

cheeseisthebest · 25/03/2023 10:03

Hi, having a lie in with a cuppa, me and DS 11 going to take the dog to the dog park later, I need to do a meal plan for the week and some food shopping. My DD, 15 is poorly, think she's still fast asleep. Rugby for youngest all day tomorrow. Husband at the gym.

frozendaisy · 25/03/2023 10:04

Home improvement weekend hopefully by end of weekend will be in a position to get back to the outstanding portrait paintings I need to catch up on. Happy days.

In the meantime have DofE activities and grass sowing.

DinosApple · 25/03/2023 10:07

I was up at 7.30 having been awake in the night. Lounging about in my PJs now.
Later I'm dropping one DD to town and taking the other to Dunelm with me for a mooch.
Then back to reclaim the entire house from clean washing that seems to somehow be in every room. The collect DD from town.

The rest of the day will consist of nagging my teen to do her homework and prep her stuff for a hike tomorrow.

AuntieMarys · 25/03/2023 10:20

Slightly fragile after a very boozy day yesterday, so a 5 mile walk followed by a cheese and onion pasty. Then home to read my book and probably have a little nap

jumpingjosie32 · 25/03/2023 10:29

Morning. Feeling very jaded this morning after a sleepless night with poorly dd. Ds and dh have gone off to football, usually we would join them but as she's so unwell we're staying home in the warm. She's napping right now so I'm having a coffee and tidying around. Will have a bath and put some make up on soon and hopefully feel more human.
Need to pop to the shops for Sunday dinner bits and pick up a prescription for dd. Ds will want to watch football this afternoon but I will get cabin fever if I don't get out of the house so will try a walk this afternoon if dd is up to it.
Takeaway and film tonight.
Gutted as we were meant to be having an afternoon out but not going to happen now. It's been never ending illnesses for us lately and it doesn't half mess with weekends!!

704703hey · 25/03/2023 10:34

Morning!

Phone call to amazon first thing as my heater broke, I've only had it 3 months. I felt slightly cross as the bloke asked me to get a screwdriver and fiddle around with it. I'm not doing that I want to return it. So have a QR code now. Early morning shop at Lidl.

Then came a moment of great embarrassment, the cutlery had gone missing and I was very perplexed and asked everyone where it was. It was only afterwards I remembered that I sometimes sleep walk and move things around so went upstairs to check. Yep, I'd squirrelled it away in my bedroom.

I'm hiding until my cheeks stop burning with the shame 😳

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 25/03/2023 10:40

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had internet problems this morning so I've only just got connected. I've done a small shop and I'm about to do some housework. Then I need to head to the retail park to pick up an order. chicken curry later.

LemonDrizzle10 · 25/03/2023 10:44

It's a very lazy morning here. Just had a week on the sofa feeling awful so in no rush to do anything. DD and I had an Uno tournament in bed this morning, such a great quick game.
Might put a wash on in a minute.

Simonjt · 25/03/2023 11:01

@lucysmam I replied on someone elses what are you doing thread last week, it felt like I was cheating on you.

My son has a rugby match today, so we’ll go and watch him play, they’re only young and so many still keep giving the ball away by waving to their parents, quite cute though.

Grandma is coming to stay for the week, so we’re picking her up later today, as she is here we might all go out for tea depending on how lazy we’re feeling. We’re watching bros tonight, its meant to be quite good so we’ll see.

lucysmam · 25/03/2023 17:16

🤣 @Simonjt I didn't have the attention span to type an op, I've been really off it.

@LemonDrizzle10 I hope you're starting to feel better now?

@704703hey that made me laugh 🤣 Dd1 used to sleepwalk but never hid things, that would have been interesting!

@Decafflatteplease I hope your trip to town was enjoyable? We acquired a free pineapple and 50p melon at the market, but there wasn't as much variety to be had as usual. I think we were later than we normally are tbh. I didn't manage to get the bits for the Rainbows, Brownies, and Guides either so will need Asda for those tomorrow.

I'm just browsing takeaway menus now, Chinese went down well last weekend but everyone else is leaning towards burgers/pizza/kebab so need to check minimum orders I think.

@lucysmam I'm a bit better thanks, had first Chemo session and I felt like I'd been run over by a juggernaut. Am eating for Britain this weekend.
