Ann walking 9km - I’m sorry

I don’t know if it’s just me but she’s popping up all over every Twitter thread I’m on - serious and not so serious. And it’s pissing me off. Not Ann herself of course but the advertising/social media agency that thought it would be a good idea to strip her message across EVERY Twitter thread in the hope we’d all care. Sorry - it doesn’t work like that - all it leads to is everyone thinking ‘who the fuck
is Ann’.

I really think social media has got it wrong. It’s the equivalent of MN putting a ‘ help me choose a wedding dress’ advertorial mock thread in the middle of a board discussing domestic violence. In fact there’s probably a name for this type of ‘advertising’ - probably along the lines of an ‘actuality insert advert’

Please note - it just pisses people off - it doesn’t work.

Well, I'm not on SM, so was totally unaware of "Ann walking 9km".

But thanks to your post, I was intrigued enough to Google!

So it could be said Just A Drop's ad campaign worked by proxy. (And it's at least creatively done, which is more than can be said for a lot of advertising)

I take your point, though, that over-saturation can have the reverse effect too.

It’s the equivalent of MN putting a ‘ help me choose a wedding dress’ advertorial mock thread in the middle of a board discussing domestic violence.

Not sure what you mean by that?

I'm on Twitter, no sign of Ann.

Oh, God, sorry. "Over-saturation" was a terrible choice of phrasing, given the context. Truly was inadvertent.
