Induction hob/pan users

I have an induction hob. I have pans that work on the hob but they are loosing their non stick. I bought a new small pan suitable for induction but it didn’t work on my hob. When I placed it on my hob, it didn’t connect so didn’t work.

Same with the next pan I bought which makes me think, do pans have to be a certain measurement to fit on the hob now? My old pans are 10 years old or so.

I checked both pans I bought with a magnet and they were definitely compatible. This makes me thing they were perhaps too small for my rings?

Most induction hobs have sensors so if the pan is too small for the ring, they won't work (it's a safety thing designed to stop you accidentally heating up eg a fork or serving spoon to red hot). That might explain it if the new pan is smaller than your old ones.

Thanks. That makes sense. It’s odd as the pans I have bought that don’t work are the same side as the one that did. The only difference is my old pan was heavier than these new ones. Frustrating.
