Why isn't my Spotify playlist playing in my echo dot?

Bloody Alexa driving me mad 😡

I'm trying to play a playlist from Spotify app on my echo dot and Alexa is just playing random playlists (not mine).

I've made sure on Alexa app that Spotify is my default for all music options. Tried fixes from Google but to no avail

What am I missing?

So I did that thing you do when you haven't a clue and just went into every page on the Spotify app and it suddenly gave me pop ups to allow them both to connect. That worked in that I can play from my phone to the Echo without asking Alexa

But it's irritating me I can't do it just by asking the bloody thing
