Is this mould on my chicken?

I’ll start off with hands in the air and admit that I am struggling a lot with anxiety and have a history of IBS and issues with food.

I have just been thrown into a major panic about something.

I have just opened a pack of flame grilled chicken pieces which are in date until 29th March (not something I eat much of).

Had consumed a few pieces and went to eat this chunk and saw this black area and now panicking it’s mould! I have a huge fear of food poisoning with a diarrhoea and vomiting fear.
It smelt ok and the other pieces tasted fine too but my excessively anxious brain is currently telling me I’ll succumb to salmonella in the near future ffs!!

The (very) quiet, rational side of my brain is whispering that it’s probably a bit of chargrill as it’s flame grilled chicken (although none of the other pieces had this on them).

I think it’s fine op it’s just a bit of the flamegrilled. X

It’s charred bits from the flame grilling , or seasoning.

You will be fine.

Definitely just some leftover 'char' from the chargrilled cooking process 🙂

LemonLion Of course not lol. My service dropped half way through posting the first one then I started this one as it looked like the first was lost and then I ended up with two threads. The first has been hidden.

Sympathies OP, I worry about chicken too. If in doubt I throw it away! But I do have anxiety surrounding food. It does just look like seasoning

Just a heads up OP, when you hide a thread it only hides it from you - everyone else can still see it.

Obviously it’s not a big deal but if you ever really wanted a double thread deleted, just report one and put the reason in your comment, MNHQ will delete it for you.
