Invisalign retainers

My Invisalign treatment plan has nearly finished and I need to decide if I want fixed retainers as well as removable retainers.... anyone had Invisalign or other braces and got any thoughts on the best approach?

Yes definitely have the bonded retainers to top and bottom teeth.

The removable retainers crack and will need replacing so the bonded one will keep your teeth straight in the event you need a new retainer made.

I've got fixed retainers on top and bottom. I don't remember having a choice, they just did it.

I'm glad though, I hate the thought of my teeth moving after all this work.

I'd definitely have them put on.

I’ve got both! Fixed retainers and I wear my removable ones at night.

I have a removable on the top. It cracks easily, cheaper plastic, not like Invisalign itself. A fixed would be much better. Don't know why my doctor didn't suggest a fixed on both. Guess it my depend on whether you have enough of space for it (as bottom teeth might bight into it)

I've got both, stopped noticing the fixed retainers after a day or so. If you go for it I'd recommend a water pik or equivalent

DD also had Invisalign - at first she only had removable retainers but found that during the day her teeth were shifting. Switched to both removable and fixed which has worked so much better for her, it’s been 2 years now and absolutely 0 movement even if she hasn’t worn her retainers in a while

Thanks all, sounds like fixed is the way to go!

I had train track braces so a bit different but I have bonded retainers and trays for night time too. You get used to the bonded ones very quickly.
