Vegetarians eating out

I'm a new vegetarian. I'm loving it.
I cook a lot from scratch.
I mess things up a lot but when I get them right they are lovely meals I enjoy eating.

If we go out for a meal the choice is always crap. If it's a restaurant I used to love it's usually quite limited or just deep fried crap.

Does anyone know or can recommend any good takeaways or restaurants in Liverpool that are either vegetarian or have decent choices for me please?

Aside from gusto, I've had a few nice meals that are vegetarian from there.

Down the hatch is really good
Have you got the happy cow app? Its pretty helpful for finding places with a lot of meat free alternatives

Leafblow · 23/03/2023 20:28

Oh and Mowgli is really nice- there are lots of vegetarian options there and the food is great

Bundobust for Indian street food. (Have only been to the Leeds one but I love it)

No idea re restaurants, but as an aside, if none of the mains appeal (which depending on the place they often don't) I go for a starter as my main with veg/salad/carb sides as needed.

I don't know much about Liverpool restaurants but the one time I was there recently for work I ate at the London Carriage Works on hope street. I don't remember exactly what I had but I remember being impressed.

I've been veggie for about 5 years. Some restaurant chains do a great job: Pho (amazing!), Zaap Thai, Ask, the Botanist, pasta places etc. If you like veggie burgers, Byron burger is excellent. Sometimes I eat a little fish, which also makes life easier too

Maray is my favourite, Leaf is great too, Sanskruti is fully vegetarian but anywhere Indian or Thai will have good veggie options, Madre might fall into the “lots of fried things” categories but it’s delicious and gave me some good ideas on flavour combinations to make veggie tacos at home

Thank you soo much I will try all of these over the next few months

I've not been to mowgli but I want to. It was on the telly a few years ago. Looked fab.

What do you have at Maray? That's the one overlooks the Mersey isn't it?

I have a cathedral city oven meal in at the minute. A bubble and squeak. I have high expectations of it. We shall see at 9:50 lol

My dp is veggie and I don't know Liverpool but Indian and Thai food is always a safe bet for lots of veggie options. Often Mexican too.
Most gourmet burger chains have a couple of veggie options too but obviously not super healthy.

getafringenotbotox · 23/03/2023 21:23

@elizzza is that leaf off the roundabout on the way to childwall? I always thought that was meat oriented but I've seen that so many times driving past and thought it looks nice

I've had a few plant burgers at home and I love them. I will try here too

There's also a Maray on Bold St. Rudy's usually has a couple of good veggie options too, as does Lunya.

Thanks for these suggestions. DH away tonight so I've convinced my Dd to try a Linda McCartney burger. If she likes it I will take her to sone of these
