Driving crash course?

Has anyone done a driving lesson crash course? Would you recommend doing that to get it over and done quickly, or do you think it's better to go the traditional route and do a lesson or two a week for however long it takes?
I really want/need to be driving quickly- I'm 31 now, had some lessons at 17, hated it and I so regret not just carrying on as I'd have been driving years by now.
I've recently got the funds to be able to pay for lessons or a crash course so just wanted to hear some opinions as I don't know anyone that's done one.

I don't think theyre actually called crash courses. That would seem ironic! I mean intensive courses.

I did one and hated it, it was just too much compressed learning for me. A colleague did it and passed with flying colours. Horses for courses I think .

I'm now learning through weekly lessons in an automatic car and finding it so much easier to pick up.
