Can you share a link? Yes they are pretty decent, especially compared with a Vauxhall. They're also not that popular so seem pretty good value for money compared to other BMWs I would say. But do you need a diesel? If you don't do decent speed longer length journeys you could run into DPF issues, so I would consider petrol. No offence toThe Zafira but Vauxhall build quality and engines are pretty rubbish so I think it'll feel like a real luxury vehicle for you going to a BMW. I actually think the BMW is a good choice. I've only ever been in one as a front passenger so I don't know how they compare to the Zafira space wise in the back so I would go and have a look at one.

We've got a petrol zafira, 2018 I think, can't fault it (apart from the fugly).

Munichfam5 · 22/03/2023 16:43

Thanks for your responses , yeah i do love our zafira , but i just fancy something, well a bit more fancy ! 😆

The only BMW’s available were all diesel

  • o u set stand this isn’t a great option ,,

Are BMW’s expensive to repair ,?

Be very wary of diesel cars, many cities are bringing in ulez zones which affects diesels tat are fairly new (whereas our older petrol car is fine.) it's the reason they are being sold cheaper

I have the 2016 bmw 2 series gran tourer. Smile
Mine is a 1.6 petrol.
I love the car, similar size to Peugeot 5007, Zafira etc. But feels much more luxurious and drives like a dream. It has 3 driving modes: eco, comfort and sports. Very nippy in sports mode.

My only negative is mine seems to eat fuel. This maybe because the only other car I had was a diesel and a tank would last forever.
I'm used to it now, but was quite a shock to begin with!
Apart from that I love it. I paid just under 11k for mine 6 months ago.

@gogohmm yes i did drive to Birmingham last weekend and they have a clean air zone charge in the city centre !
@Fivetoomany
thanks for your feedback - the BMW sounds great

Good thread. I’ve been looking at these too. I’ve got an aged Peugeot 5008 that I need to replace.

I’m not sure between manual and automatic gearboxes, I’ve always had a manual but so many second hand cars are automatic.

TheFairyCaravan · 22/03/2023 20:31

We had the 220d Active Tourer before we had our Tiguan. It was a beautiful car. I’d highly recommend them. It was incredibly economical, very comfortable and very easy to drive and park. Ours was automatic, they’re an 8 speed gearbox, you don’t feel them change gear, it’s incredibly smooth. I loved it and was very sorry to see it go but I have a mobility scooter, and as we had a 5 seater version the boot was just a teeny but small for us.

TeaandHobnobs · 22/03/2023 20:41

I have a 2015 Ford S max (diesel), which is ok under all current ULEZ regs.
I did try a petrol version, but it didn’t really have enough oomph.
Not sure what they cost these days though…

cunningartificer · 22/03/2023 20:50

We almost got one of these when we were replacing our Carens (following a Zafira before) and actually ended up going for a Skoda Kodiaq which has been absolutely brilliant--and petrol.

cunningartificer · 22/03/2023 20:51

Forgot to say out was a space thingthe BMW back seats were small compared to the Skoda and no comparison with boot space

whatdoidonowffs · 22/03/2023 20:53

BMWs are usually expensive to repair I say this from personal experience 😢 they usually have to go to main dealer/specialist for any repairs and parts aren’t usually cheap
