Prickly arm rash

It's a lot more pronounced in real life but hopefully the pictures give a rough idea. Has anyone had anything like this?

I've had this rash for 2-3 days, more visible at times than others. It's not itchy but feels very rough to touch and all the little red dots are raised. It's only on my right arm with a particularly bad patch on my hand.

I've not used any unusual products or new detergent or anything.

I do have an extremely sore throat today it hurts to swallow and am a bit rundown in general. But I'm pretty sure a viral rash wouldn't be localised to one arm?

Adding the pics might help

Bumping just in case. It's still on the arms and occasionally starts flaring up somewhere else (neck, back). It's not itchy but feeling a bit uncomfortable in my skin!

It could be strep A, although that is usually on the body I think. Read up on the specific strep A rash.

I'd assume viral but would take antihistamines to see if that helped.

Does taking an antihistamine help?

It looks almost as though you are leaning on something, ie have arm out of car window? This is the time of year any exposed skin can react to the wonderful warm sunshine we have had.

I haven't had a chance to go out and get antihistamine yet and I really wish I had! I have just showered and it's made it so much worse, like my skin is on fire. Not as much the arms now, but mostly my back and my neck. It's the weirdest thing...

I get this sometimes, like a histamine reaction. Try an antihistamine.

You do need to try an antihistamine.
