Grasping for some hope!

I recently ordered my DDs passport renewal and stupidly put my married name in the application even though we only got married recently so hadn’t changed it on any official gov places except driving lisence. The passport office have asked for my marriage certificate to be sent in but I’m still waiting for it to be delivered (8 days waiting already)

Does anyone know how long it takes from them receiving my supporting documents and checking them to her passport being sent? We’re due to go away beginning of April but haven’t booked the ferry yet. Personal family circumstances mean we’d like to head out beginning of April or I wouldn’t be concerned about the delay.

Hi op, just this morning got DS passport back. This is his second (no name changes and person certifying it did it same day) I did app on 2/3, they told me it was approved on 19/3 and I got it today. Hope that helps

Thanks so much for answering. I think that would be the case for me if I’d filled in the application with my maiden name as opposed to married name.

Sent off passport application 1.5weeks ago. This morning they asked for supporting documents to confirm my surname. I guess I’m wondering if anyone needed to send off supporting documents, what was the wait time between sending off the documents and getting their child’s new passport.

They are going on strike from 3rd April to the 5th May so I would give them a call and see if you can get an appointment at a passport office and take the document to them. You might have more luck getting it in time that way.

I was supposed to renew last month but then my father passed away so had to leave with my kids to fly back home- daughters passport still warranted the 3 month travel rule. Sent new application for renewal as soon as we got back (1.5 weeks ago) but didn’t think about the name I put in the application on my side- hadn’t realised it would be problematic. Another family circumstance has meant we need to go back home again but can’t without daughters new passport arriving by next Thursday.

Completely forgot they’re due to go on strike.

I sent my daughter's documents off last week 1st class (wed or Thurs) and it's still saying they are waiting for them. It's her first passport and fortunately not due to fly until later in the year.

I think you are cutting it fine to first wait for your wedding certificate and then to get it back in 1.5 weeks.

Yeah I think it’s not going to be possible. I won’t have my hopes up. Can’t believe I didn’t just put my maiden name as is on my passport in the application. X

I would definitely call them to see what they can do as you have compassionate grounds for needing to travel.

I think I’ll do that, I didn’t realise I could, hopefully I’ll recieve marriage certifate Thursday and send off same day. Friday they should get it at the passport office and the. I’ll hope for the best. I know it was stupid of me to put my married name when not having anything other than my driving lisence in it but I didn’t think.

Hi all, just to update you in case anyone is facing the same issues I was.

Requested a next day delivery copy on our marriage certificate oblast Tuesday- arrived Thursday morning. Sent it to the passport office Thursday afternoon for next day delivery- document logged as checked Saturday morning and application approved. The copy of my marriage certificate I ordered via standard post on the 06.03 arrived that weekend too🫠

Sunday received message passport is being printed. Monday it was in the delivery office. Received new passport today (Wednesday!) 🎉

Yay! They are very fast once they are approved aren’t they. Really surprised me.
