Anyone else hate this regarding book series?

When they start a series and the cover is in a particular style. Then so is the second and sometimes the 3rd.

Then for the fourth and so on, it changes and when you go and look at the first of the series, it’s changed too to copy the new cover.

It’s so annoying!!

Yes, I hate this. Sometimes the size of book changes too. I have a favourite author who has written around 30 books over many years. I have them all, but the earlier books are a smaller size and different design to the later ones. I want them all to look similar! I know I could just replace the ones that don’t match but that’s expensive.

I hate it when you read a book and then realise that it's book 3 in a series and you haven't read books 1 and 2.

Oh god the size is a big thing but I sort of cope with that. Mostly.

I felt this about my sandman comics. I’ll never be able to buy the same ones again, new.

It doesn't bother me. More annoying is when I write a book and then it does better than expected, so I write more for my readers only for them to be shitty about the fact I couldn't get the same cover designer or get her to recreate the style of the original covers or I had to move publisher because they were refusing to bring out books 4 onwards and somehow the size of the books is what people care about rather than the story I worked really hard on. Talk about judging a book by its cover.

Im still buying the books. I’m still giving the author the money for the writing and praising the actual book. I can bitch about the cover if I want to
