Half a day on my own with my toddler

DD is 22 months old. Since maternity leave I haven’t spent much time just the 2 of us because of her older siblings. It’s a rainy day and I’ve got the afternoon off so I’m going to pick her up from childcare and spend some time with her.

I’m inexplicably having trouble deciding what to do! what would you do in this situation? This weekend has been full of walks, jumping in puddles, play parks, soft play and swimming and I was trying to think of something different that she would enjoy.

Pottery painting cafe?
Swimming pool
A kid friendly museum with cool interactive things

I would do some sensory things with her at home. Cloud dough, making play doh, glow sticks in the bath for a bath time party, simple baking etc. Those were my favourite things to do with mine when they were that age and are some of our favourite memories together.
Have fun with your little one whatever you decide to do.

I would snuggle on the sofa with her and have a lovely cuddly movie hour.

I'd be having a potter at home with her. Get the paints out, have a bath, make some biscuits. Lovely! Have fun.

  • Baking
- A short bus or train ride - Indoor picnic with teddies, she can help make the sandwiches etc

At 22 months mine wouldn't have done much in the way of organised activities. He was like a little whirlwind! I'd see if you could find a toddler playgroup/dance class or take him to soft play. If you have one of those play cafes that are just for toddlers that would be perfect!

Bake or swimming pool

Followed by her choice at home
