Unscented sanitary pads?

VivaciousRadish · 20/03/2023 09:20

I thought I was finished with all this, but apparently not.

Im looking for own brand sanitary pads without added perfume 🤢. I used to buy in bulk from Asda but I don’t have many left, and we don’t live near as Asda now. Threw away my mooncup last year too.

Im near every other supermarket (Lidl are closest) boots & Superdrug aren’t convenient, I’d prefer own brand, and definitely no smell.

Any recommendations are very welcome!

Can I recommend my washable ones? From Amazon, comfy, soft, very absorbing, bamboo I think.

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/03/2023 09:22

Mine as in I use them btw, I don’t make them!

HyacinthineMacaw · 20/03/2023 09:24

The perfume thing is an epidemic and should be stamped out. The only ones I’ve found are Bodyform. Not own brand. I get them from Morrisons where they are frequently on offer for £1 a pack, usual price about £1.50.

Bodyform are unscientific but not own brand obviously.
Can you really not get to an Asda? Or have a friend or family member who does??

Smartiepants79 · 20/03/2023 09:25

unscented not unscientific!!

VivaciousRadish · 20/03/2023 09:29

@AnneLovesGilbert One of my daughters uses them and raves about them.

It’s not that I wouldn’t it’s just that I’m going through the menopause and really can’t afford the outlay for what I hope is my last period. I used a mooncup before and sanitary towels at night.

My daughters are in their 20s and don’t live at home so I can’t borrow anything from them.

Not own brand but bodyform are unscented, not overly expensive and perform well in my experience.

Soniqueboom · 20/03/2023 09:31

Bodyform here too, Tesco usually have them on a deal, think it's 3 packs for £3.20 now, definitely unscented.

VivaciousRadish · 20/03/2023 09:34

Morrisons I can do. Is it all bodyform do you know @HyacinthineMacaw? I’ve been caught out before, by, I think Always? I can afford that. It’s the organic type ones I can’t run to. I agree it should be stamped out.

Cant get to Asda today @Smartiepants79 Well I could if I took two buses but would rather not!

Sainsburys own brand are unscented and v good.

Needmorelego · 20/03/2023 09:36

I buy own brand from all the major supermarkets plus Wilkos and Boots, Superdrug. None of those are scented.
Brand name ones I sometimes get are Bodyform and Always. They aren't scented either.
Infact I have never actually come across any scented ones (although I did use some scented Tena pads once)

VivaciousRadish · 20/03/2023 09:36

Thank you. Bodyform it is.

I really appreciate all your help. I’m sure it’s not just me that finds the fragrance vile, and I’m sure it made me itchy. It seems wrong that it’s the norm now.

Always sensitive are unscented and usually around £1 a pack

SweetPetrichor · 20/03/2023 09:37

Not own brand unfortunately but Flo pads are unscented and very comfy. They are £2-£3 though so depends if you could stretch to that.

Needmorelego · 20/03/2023 09:37

@VivaciousRadish if you have Poundland, Poundstretchers, One Below etc type shops near you they usually sell brands like Bodyform.

YukoandHiro · 20/03/2023 09:37

Bodyform are the best pad - comfortable, no horrible scent, no leaks generally and they cope with my extreme perimenopause floodgates (albeit I have to change regularly)

BatFaceOwl · 20/03/2023 09:39

I use totm ones as they're organic and un scented. They're also pricey at about 3.50 for 10 but for me, worth it

Gherkingreen · 20/03/2023 09:39

I use washable or period pants with tampons these days (perimenopause) , but thread reminded me of getting strange looks in Tesco sniffing the boxes of sanitary towels trying to avoid the hideously cloying scented ones😂
