Toaster recommendation

I need a new toaster, a 4 slice one.
My current one has 2 slots controlled by 2 levers, one on the left and one on the right. It won't let you put the left lever down unless the right lever is also down so if we put 2 slices of toast on then they can only go in the right slot. This slot is no longer burning the toast well and I feel the left hand slot would still work but we can't use that one independently.

I need a toaster where you can put 2 slices of bread in either side without the toaster dictating which side gets used. I have been looking at reviews but unfortunately none of them tell you this.

I have a Sage BTA845, I love it. 4 slice, both sides operate independently, crumpet option and othe great features.

I have a Dualit Architect and the pairs of slots work independently.

Excellent, will look into these, a crumpet/bagel option is a bonus

I am resurrecting this thread as I still don't have a toaster, life got in the way.

I don't want a dualit because of the chrome, likewise with the sage one.

Can anyone else help?

We have an Asda George one (4 slices) which I've been happy with.

It's this one

So you've basically gone a year without a toaster due to "toast positioning requirement syndrome".

I would just buy a 2 slicer and use it twice. Or buy one of those hotel ones that is like a travellator, then there is no concept of a toast slot.

I’m looking at the zwilling. It’s in black and has two long rather than 4 individual slots so I can toast 4 slices at once without separate buttons. And it fits better on our pantry area

I've just been using the crap one. I like "toast requirement syndrome" Grin
