Spa recommendations

I'm looking for an amazing spa for a romantic weekend away with DH - ideally within a couple of hours from Manchester. Does anyone have any recommendations please?

I'm looking for gorgeous hotel rooms - a hot tub or huge bath in the room would be ideal. Spa treatments - ideally one of those couple's mud experiences - and a range of spa facilities like sauna, steam room etc. And lovely food and a cosy bar area.

Low Wood Spa in Ambleside. We had the couples mud room experience as a Christmas gift and the outdoor pool has a gorgeous view over Lake Windermere.

You can't beat Ragdale.

It may be a bit too far away but Pennyhill Park is my happy place, they do the couple mud experience there. The bathrooms in the hotel rooms are amazing.

Thanks for the suggestions - googling now!

No budget: it's a special occasion and we want somewhere really special and romantic and sexy

I second Ragdale, nowhere else I've been has ever come close.

Ragdale hall has a lovely rooftop hot tub!

Low Wood Spa in Ambleside

Thought this sounded nice so looked it up. £450 a night!

I just don't get how places like that can justify being over double the price of other spa hotels.

Ragdale is lovely. Buxton crescent spa hotel v nice.

Carden park

I've been to Carden Park quite recently, and the garden spa is very nice but not remotely comparable with Ragdale. If you really want a treat, Ragdale would be hard to beat. The food is amazing and the setting is beautiful.

Ragdale is lovely. Buxton crescent spa hotel v nice.

We love Ragdale and tried Buxton recently. Buxton was nice but not a patch on Ragdale. At the end of the day, Buxton is a hotel with a spa added on and all of the traipsing up and down the steps got on our nerves by the end plus a couple of the facilities were out of order which was unfortunate.

100% Ragdale!

Thanks for all the recommendations. Ragdale is very popular! Looking into that one.

Ribby Hall is lovely

Ragdale is top quality

Hoar Cross is a close second although I've only been as a day guest
