Does anyone recognise the children's book?

I think there were 2 books. (Possibly more)

It was about a little girl, an orphan who was raised by nuns. Her parents might have been explorers and I think she had a birthmark shaped like the island she originated from. In one of the books I think she was kidnapped and there was a henchman called Wolfie. I think he might have been Australian and part of the book was set in Australia?

It's driving me crazy.

Any help would be very welcome.
