Just need some reasurrance. I've totally changed my lifestyle and its so hard but i really want to get healthy and lose weight which is impacting on my health.
I'm doing it with a personal trainer and nutritionist.
Been going well and seeing results but this week weight is just not budging!
I know it can go up and down with water/hormones but it's just not moving..in fact has gone up!

If you lost a significant amount of weight did you have weeks where you did everything well but nothing moved?

Read about the ‘whoosh effect’ if you haven’t already.

Had a gastric sleeve. Weight fell off for the first 4 weeks, then plateaued then fell off, then plateaued. It’s the equivalent to going on a 600 calorie/day diet (so quite dramatic). But in those weeks it plateaued, I wasn’t doing anything different. That said perhaps men’s bodies do things differently to women’s.

DH lost 3 stone, but never lost on a week by week basis. He plateus for 3-4 weeks then drops 4lbs seemingly overnight. Bodies are fucking weird and if that were me, I would have lost motivation very quickly. Worth knowing though

I recall saying this to a GP once.

I needed to lose four stone but got stuck at around three stone.

She told me that my body had got used to my dieting and had adapted accordingly.
In order to kickstart my metabolism I needed to have a weekend every now and then where I didn't diet and just ate what I wanted. This would trick my body into thinking more calories were coming in and would sort of go into ' shit ! I need to do something about these extra calories, I'll have to start burning more!'

I was sceptical but it worked .

I've lost two stone with another one and half to go. I plateaued fir about 3 weeks but it's started moving again. Must admit the maintaining did get to me so I did have a few more "sod it" moments than usual so maybe @GlassBunion has a point.

I have lost 92lb since last new year. Plenty of times when weight either stayed the same or even went up. The most important lesson I learned was to ignore the fluctuations and keep going. That is what made the difference this time. Previous weight loss attempts failed when I lost motivation due to the scale not moving. If you can stick with it you will get results. Good luck!

This is me atm....what to do? I'm going to try weights/resistance 2 times a week to try and get things going again. It's so awful!
