Any NHS B6+ willing to help with interview prep please?

I’ve got my first B6 interview next week, it’s for a senior nurse position in a community based team. Alongside the usual job, the role takes supervision of B5, 4 and 3 staff some of which are in a therapy role rather than nursing. I’m expecting questions around supervision, management of staff as well as caseload. Management / escalation of ?sepsis, admission avoidance and supported discharge.

I want to be as prepared as possible - would be very grateful to anyone who can help with interview questions and general prep!

Safeguarding, auditing, clinical governance, integration and the long term plan(chapter 1), conflict resolution ie how would you deal with team members that didnt get on or a conflict with a patient/relatives.

im a b6 community team lead and i was asked questions on these things. Try and use examples of experience in your answers or at the very least show some understanding of each subject. Good luck x

Oh and think about leadership, emotional intelligence is a big thing, look at the nhs leadership academy, being self aware, resilience and wellbeing. Dealing with heavy caseloads and staffing issues, ie prioritising visits and deferring other visits.

@Minxyjinx thank you. I’ve been in the community for a couple of years and have dealt with so many scenarios so should be able to apply those. For instance I’ve had domestic abuse disclosure which needed immediate safeguarding and then ongoing referrals - that’s on the right track isn’t it.

Integration and long term plan will need some reading. I’m also going to try to memorise our trust values to bring in, was thinking this would be fitting for conflict resolution.

In addition to post above, would also think about QI/service improvement you've been involved with. Also equality and diversity, how you involve principles of E+D in your everyday practice.

For each 'topic' try to think of one example of how you have done this in practice. Give an overview of the situation, your involvement, what happened and what your learning was.

Def conflict resolution, time management, safeguarding.

Thank you all.

The other thing that will possibly come up is service development. This is a new-ish team and will eventually be taking some of the urgent care from the DN caseloads which is where my experience is. There’s some blurred lines with virtual wards and I’ve been trained in remote monitoring which could be coming to this team so I can use that as a cross reference of how I’ve handled situations, what I’ve learned and how that benefits this team. That’s ok isn’t it?

I’m nervous already 😂

is part of the role completing the DNSPQ? A good question to ask if not!

Minxyjinx · 19/03/2023 10:15

Ahh so its not a DN team, ignore my last post, although asking about post grad courses that may be available to you is good! Sounds like you have some good talking points ready.

Minxyjinx · 19/03/2023 10:16

Virtual wards and telecare is featured a lot in chapter 1 of the long term plan!

B6Interview · 19/03/2023 10:21

@Minxyjinx along with acute medicine my background is telephone triage and urgent community care, I haven’t worked in a DN team. I’ve got an unconditional offer to start my MSc this autumn… this job is part of a long term plan to get to ACP level…
