How often do you enter competitions? Any successes? Any tips?

I went through a phase years and years ago when I regularly entered competitions through ones I spotted in newspapers and magazines. I won a couple of things including a massive Colgate box filled with toothbrushes and toothpastes. 😂 It was quite a useful prize.

I've noticed a few competitions pop up on Facebook recently that sound good. Does anyone else do competitions on social media? Any luck? Any tips?

I won a holiday to America and a year's supply of wine about 15 years ago. It was epic. After that I entered loads of competitions but didn't win anything much - a tube of foundation, some tickets to a tribute act, that kind of thing. Gradually just stopped entering as many and now hardly any, just a few on Instagram.

For anyone considering entering a lot of comps I recommend setting up a separate email address for it as you will get loads of spam!

I won tickets to a festival, tickets to a gig. A friend of mine years back before email comps used to use cereal box covers cut up to send in postal entries. She won loads as I think they were picked out of a sack.

I was a maniac at entering years ago using the forum on MSE. I won loads of stuff the 3 best being a weeks holiday to Philadelphia on one from the tv show “it’s always sunny in Philadelphia “, a 47 inch TV from Sky, and a mini break (3 day weekend) in Shrewsbury to their garden/flower show/ horse show.

I loved getting little things in the post even things like a packet of basil seeds. I need to start doing it again. (I was entering circa 10 comps a day)

I would like to give it a go again, just for fun. Life has been extremely difficult recently and I thought it could be a nice little distraction.

Instagram is the best platform for competitions at the moment!
There are comping groups on Facebook you can join.
There are a few websites dedicated to competitions as well.
On Facebook you'll have more luck entering local competitions as they tend to have fewer entries.
It also helps to have an idea of the things you'd like to win and focus on finding those competitions as it's easy to get swept away and enter anything and everything 🤣
Talking from experience from when I won a cook book of recipes using bugs/insects and a bags of dried bugs to go with it 🤣
