Best places to live in south bucks

Moving from west London have a budget of £900k for a 3 bed or 4 bed with a garden and within an hours commute of London. DH works in Soho full time.

Would like a peaceful rural feel but not too remote. Want to have amenities around us. Two pre school age children so need good primary schools.

Any recommendations welcome!

Presumably you need to be on a train line?

BadgerCive · 18/03/2023 22:44

Yes but happy to drive a short distance to a station

The Willen area of Milton Keynes, or look at villages outside Buckingham and Aylesbury.

Try Haddenham

Bucks is a nightmare for secondary schools. I know it seems a long time away but do you really want to get into the grammar nightmare? People start tutoring in year 4 ... Look at Herts instead. Tring/ Berkhamsted and surround villages etc. at least then you have options of grammar nearby but can also skip if you'd rather not.

Marlow

iminvestednow · 18/03/2023 22:54

Amazing schools and great shops/restaurants.

BadgerCive · 18/03/2023 22:56

Marlow is lovely but I think the daily commute into London would be too long.

Amersham? Still on the tube line?

BadgerCive · 18/03/2023 22:58

Yes Amersham is good for links. Was also looking at villages around there maybe, and Beaconsfield and other stations along the chiltern line but need to visit some

They're Buckinghamshire, lovely places, fit the commute time and the OP can get a decent house within her budget. You crack on with your pointless emoji though.

Chalfont St Giles and Seer Green?
Coleshill.
ypu need to drive around the areas and see which village appeals.
PS none suitable if you don’t drive. You need to live in Beaconsfield or Amersham.

Marlow is nice, but pricey and packed with people.
There are local train lines which take you to maidenhead where you can get the Elizabeth line.
Or you could drive...

I've taken a few routes to central over the years I've lived around here varying from Beaconsfield, decent parking and regular-ish trains to Marylebone.
Or driving to west Ruislip/Hillingdon/south Ruislip and getting the tube.
I'm yet to try a drive to Burnham or taplow for parking and using the E line.

I LOVE my village which is not far from Marlow and wonderful. The local primary is fabulous although my experience of it is only 2 years so far.
Feel free to pm if you have any probing questions!

Penn is nice too.
