Private medical insurance

Is it possible to get private medical insurance that will cover pre-existing medical conditions?

I need an operation on my foot due to an injury a few months ago and am considering going private as I am on the NHS waiting list and have been told that will be 9-12 months (at least).

No..

no of course not, that defeats the object of insurance... you can pay to go private though

Try Benenden, it is not health insurance and may cover it, there is a list of what it covers on the website. You need to be with them 6 months first.

Oh sorry if 9-12 months and already with NHS might not be worth it.

No you can’t but many private hospitals will do a fixed price for operations. Ask them about costs.

Yes, but they'll charge you more. I'd rather pay the money than suffer.

Yes, you can be covered for pre existing conditions as long as they existed 5 years prior to you taking out the policy. however, in your case your foot wouldn't be covered as you are currently taking either medication for the pain, and are under a specialist. All the best with your surgery.
