Best beach near south Cotswolds

We're currently staying in south Cotswolds and want to head out to a nice beach tomorrow no more than 3 hours drive (prefers two).

Looking for a nice sandy beach, near a nice town / area.

The Cotswolds isn't a beach holiday. That's like going to the Brecon Beacons and trying to find a nightclub

I agree, it's just bonkers

Sand Bay near Weston is probably less than an hour from you, and much much nicer than Weston proper. The sea will probably still be miles away over mudflats, but there are nice sandy dunes and walks out to the National Trust headland.

Is it for walking or swimming? For nice sandy beach , I’d go to Weymouth. Also has restaurants, etc. if you want more remote walking and pebble beach, Ringstead. I used to go walking and swimming there so much I had an annual pass for the car park.

Avoid anything along the Bristol Channel (mud!).

If you are looking for water and swimming, ther is loads of amazing wild swimming in the Cotswolds that isn’t the sea.
